Darren is currently playing keyboards for Steve Mason (ex-Beta Band singer). Click here for up to date gigs and touring.

After completing a music degree at Middlesex University in 1995, Darren dived straight into the depths of London's improvised music scene playing alongside well-respected and influential players, as well as the more infamous and anarchic artists.

During the resurection of London's notorious Klinker Club, he performed under many project names, playing sampler keyboards, fast cluster piano, live super 8 film soundtracks, edgy psychedelic organ for surf band 'They Came From The Sea', and dirty bass guitar with 'Fuck Off Batman' and the ongoing 'God's Mama'.

Darren has been professionally performing live for over 20 years, playing keyboards, synths, and bass with a variety of artists including major UK artist Gabrielle (gigs and tours 2000-2008).

In September 2010, following the release of his album 'Mavis' (with Ashley Beedle), Darren put together an epic live show at The Big Chill Festival, with an all star band including Candi Staton, Kurt Wagner (Lambchop), Ed Harcourt and John Turrel. During the same year he played piano live on BBC6 Music with artists Cerys Matthews and Edwyn Collins (their tracks from 'Mavis').

More recently Darren has performed with singer/songwriter Oliver Cherer at venues including Union Chapel Islington, De La Warr Pavillion and the Brunel Tunnel. Darren and Oliver  performed with Neotropic's Riz Maslen at Finland's H20 festival, 2014. The three of them went on to form 'Non Blank' with steel guitar/viola player Jack Hayter, performing semi-improvised suites of music, often to film.

Darren's latest band 'Rhododendron', with Oliver Cherer, is a pychedelic, Neu & Can inspired, noisey drone synth & tape, wall of sound. Upcoming gigs will be posted on his facebook page.
